11/27/2013New Feature SportsmanagerAvoiding Schedule Conflicts on Over Lapping fields
We added a option where you can define which fields are overlapping and then semi-auto and auto-schedule will avoid conflicts on those fields. To see this option click on auto-scheduling, then go to the bottom of that page and click the option for overlapping playing areas. You will see what that page looks like below for an example where field1 and 1A and field 1 and 1B are overlapping. If you have overlapping fields you can add them on this page.  Keep in mind that overlapping fields are fields that cannot have games at the same times. For example field 1A and 1B are not overlapping. Those fields are made from dividing field 1 in half.

This change affects the semi-auto and automatic scheduling programs.
The  way it works is if you are scheduling on field 1A it will first remove any open time slots that are the same times as games on field 1. Another way to explain it is it checks for and then removes the time slots in the beginning if an overlapping field is already using them and that is how it prevents scheduling conflicts.  It will not look for conflicts with overlapping fields when you manually add or edit a game on the schedule/scores page.

7/24/2013New Feature SportsmanagerHiding Player Team assignments and Coach Info on the Parent/Adult Login Page
Problem to solve: Some organizations do not want parents/players to see their team assignments until they are done creating all assignments. This options gives them the ability to hide it temporarily for up to 30 days.
 
We have implemented a new option to hide the team assignments and coach info on the parent login page.  We have given you an option where you can hide that info for up to 30 days. If that is not enough time you can always extend that hide period at the end of the 30 days. Here is how it works:
 
  1. When you login to your site, at the top you see a button for “Setup”, click on that and then click on the last option for “Parent Login” and then you should see the text example shown below where you can specify to hide assignments and for how long (days).
  2. In this example I have set the number of days to 15. So that info shows on the setup page and also on the parent login page.
  3. When the player assignments are hidden we show a note on the parent login page telling them the assignments are hidden until the specified date. That way they know they are hidden and when they will be turned back on. We do this to minimize the questions and emails about when assignments will be done. To see this click on Adults, then click the “Parent Login” button on the first adult in the list who has players. That is the same page the parent/adult will see if they login.

A new rescheduling feature in the edit game area makes it easier to reschedule local games.  PURPOSE: The new rescheduling option makes it easier to change a game because it will show you the schedule for both teams involved, field availability and blackouts all on one page. And it will allow you to select a new date and time without conflicts.  To see the new "rescheduling" option, login as administrator, click on schedule/scores, then click on "Edit", then the edit panel will come up, on the right you see a list of games and for each one a "E" for edit, "R" for reschedule and "D" for delete. Click the "R" to see the new rescheduling option.

SportsManager is now sending automated emails for Schedule Changes. Schedule Change emails go out every hour to Coaches and Refs (but not players) for games changed within the last hour.  PURPOSE: To make sure coaches and referees are automatically aware of last minute changes which could include small changes like a time change or field change or bigger changes like the date. The change notice doesn’t show what specifically has changed because we don’t track that but we do show the current status so they have the latest information.

SportsManager is now sending automated emails for Game Reminders. Game Reminder emails go out automatically every morning to players, coaches and Referees for games 2 days away. PURPOSE:  To remind everyone of their upcoming games, practices playoffs or scrimmages. This can save time for coaches who like to send out reminder emails but don't always have the time to do that.
